Realized I was closing my laptop wrong for 12 years
Was at a coffee shop last week and a guy next to me said I was pinching the screen by grabbing it from the corner. Turns out you're supposed to lift from the center. My hinge has been crooked since 2021. Anyone else find out they've been doing basic stuff wrong forever?

The real issue here is nobody talks about how laptop hinges are designed to fail on purpose. I've got a buddy who works in repair and he says most manufacturers build them with a weak point so after 3-4 years you gotta buy a new machine. So like maybe that guy at the coffee shop was right about the lifting technique but your hinge getting crooked in 2021 was probably gonna happen anyway. The whole center-lift thing feels like a bandaid for bad engineering if you ask me.

So does that mean the coffee shop guy was secretly working for the laptop companies the whole time? @mason361 probably just exposed the whole conspiracy with his buddy's insider info. Makes you wonder if the center-lift thing is just a distraction from the real crime of planned obsolescence.
