PSA: I picked a mechanical keyboard over a membrane one at the shop and regret it bad

So I went to Fry's in Austin last month to grab a new keyboard. I was torn between this $30 basic membrane one and a $80 mechanical that had all these lights. I thought the mechanical would be better for gaming since everyone online says it is. But man, after 3 weeks my fingers actually hurt from the loud clicks and the keys need more force to press. My roommate told me I sound like im typing on a typewriter from the 80s. I ended up swapping back to my old $20 one from Target and the difference in comfort is night and day. Has anyone else found that mechanical keyboards just arent worth the hype for everyday use?

I mean, is it really that big of a deal though? Like yeah the clicking is annoying to some people and your hands might be a little tired at first, but three weeks isn't really enough time to get used to a new kind of keyboard. Maybe it's just me but I think a lot of people switch back way too fast before their muscles get used to the extra resistance. And honestly if you got a loud clicky switch type instead of something quieter like a brown or red switch that's kind of on you for not checking what you were buying. The lights don't affect anything so that's just a bonus. I dunno, calling the whole mechanical keyboard thing overhyped because one cheap one didn't work out seems a bit dramatic to me.
