Chose a $30 used office chair over a $300 gaming throne and my back stopped hurting in 2 days
So I sat in one of those racing style gaming chairs for about a year and a half and my lower back was always sore after long sessions. Last month I finally got fed up and went to a local surplus store here in Dayton and found a used Steelcase office chair for 30 bucks. My buddy told me I was an idiot for not just buying a new Secretlab like his, that the office chair would look lame in my setup. I picked the office chair anyway because I figured my spine mattered more than matching my desk. Two days later the soreness in my back was basically gone and I could sit for 5 hour raids without shifting around every ten minutes. The used chair even has adjustable lumbar support that actually hits the right spot instead of that pillow thing that came with the racing chair. I sold the gaming chair to a guy on marketplace for 80 bucks so I actually came out ahead. Has anyone else made the switch from a gaming chair to a used office chair or am I just lucky with this one?
Wait, you sold the gaming chair for 80 bucks? That means you basically got paid 50 dollars to fix your back, which is wild to me. I keep hearing people say those racing chairs are just car seats bolted to a base, and the bolsters push your shoulders forward no matter how you sit. The fact that a cheap surplus Steelcase had real lumbar support and the racing chair just had that strap-on pillow thing says a lot.
