TIL I'd been mocking bad movies all wrong until my cousin said one line at a screening in Fresno
For about 2 years I ran bad movie nights at my place and my move was to talk over the whole thing, jokes the entire time, never letting a scene breathe. Last month my cousin Marcus came by for a double feature of low budget monster flicks and after the first one he said, "you are laughing at the movie instead of with it." That kind of stung, so on the second one I tried keeping my mouth shut for the slow parts and just let the weird dialog sit there. Turns out the silence made the strange stuff way funnier and people laughed harder than at any joke I had planned. How do you all balance riffing with just letting a scene cook for a minute?
