My Shark vacuum died mid-clean on Saturday and I just sat there staring at it

I was halfway through the living room rug (you know, the one the dog sheds all over) when it just stopped making that angry buzzing noise. No warning, no weird smell, just a quiet click and then nothing. I unplugged it, checked the filter, even banged on the side like a caveman. Has anyone else had a random appliance give up on them right in the middle of a chore?

And that's the thing, right? You just expect a machine to keep chugging along until it doesn't. Mine died mid-sprint on the stairs once, just a dead stop with a little puff of dust like it was giving up on life. I actually apologized to it before I went to buy a new one, which is probably a sign I need to get out more.

Wait, dust puffs out of those things when they die?
