Halfway through Troll 2, my friend's projector bulb died

We were about 40 minutes into our bad movie night, right at the part where the kid starts turning into a plant, and the whole room just went dark. My buddy Mike had borrowed his work's projector and apparently it had been overheating all along, so it just gave up. We sat in the dark for a solid five minutes trying to figure out if it was a power issue or the actual bulb, then realized we had no backup. Ended up pulling out my 13 inch laptop and huddling around it on the coffee table to finish the last hour. The picture was tiny and the audio was tinny, but honestly it made the terrible acting even funnier somehow. Has anyone else had a tech fail in the middle of a viewing and just powered through anyway, or did you call it quits?

We had almost the same thing happen during our last bad movie night, the bulb on my old TV just popped during the opening credits. We grabbed a tablet and propped it up on a stack of books, then passed it around so everyone got a turn holding it. Honestly the tiny screen made us all lean in and pay way more attention, so we caught jokes we would've missed from the couch. Someone tossed a blanket over the window to cut the glare and it felt like a weird little campout. Best part was we didn't miss a single bad line. I'd say always keep one backup plan, even if it's just a phone.
