Changed my mind about watching The Room after seeing it at a bar

I used to think The Room was overhyped until I caught a screening at The Alamo Drafthouse last Saturday. People were throwing spoons and shouting lines and I actually laughed my ass off for 2 hours. Does anyone else have a movie they wrote off until they saw it with a crowd?

Oh totally, I was the same with Rocky Horror. Saw clips on YouTube and thought it was just weird old people stuff. Then my friend dragged me to a midnight show where everyone was throwing toast and doing the Time Warp and I was completely converted. Something about a crowd just makes bad movies so much better, right?

Something about a crowd" - idk man, sometimes a bad movie is just a bad movie, not a whole experience.

Notice how this same thing happens with food too. You eat a burger you wouldn't touch alone at a restaurant and suddenly it's amazing because everyone around you is having fun. Or the other night I sat through a whole terrible concert just because the people next to me were dancing and laughing so hard. It's like being with a crowd takes the pressure off, lets you just enjoy the ride even when the thing itself is kind of a mess.
