Zip ties every 4 inches isn't always better

I helped my buddy redo his home theater rack last weekend. He had every wire strapped down tight, perfect rows, looked like a factory build. Took us 3 hours to pull one HDMI out because there was zero slack anywhere. My own setup in my garage has loose bundles with velcro every foot or so, and I can swap gear in 10 minutes flat. Am I the only one who thinks over-tight cable rails cause more pain than they prevent?

Three hours to pull one HDMI? That would drive me up the wall. The whole point of a rack is being able to get to stuff, and if you gotta cut every single tie just to swap a cable, what are you even doing it for. Velcro every foot or so is the move, you get the tidy look without the cage.
