That moment in my buddy's basement that made me rethink zip ties

I was over at my friend Mike's place last week helping him set up his gaming PC in his finished basement in Naperville. His desk was a total mess of cables behind the monitor, like a spider web of power cords and display cables. He showed me how he uses those reusable velcro straps instead of zip ties for everything now, and honestly it was a game changer for me. Has anyone else switched from zip ties to velcro and found it way easier to adjust later on?

Ditched zip ties for velcro straps a few years back after I had to cut open a bundle to swap out a dead DisplayPort cable. Total pain trying to get scissors in there without nicking the other cords. Now I just keep a roll of the sticky-backed velcro in my desk drawer, wrap a loop around each bundle, and tighten it up. Makes it stupid easy to reroute stuff when you move your setup around or add a new peripheral. Even use them for cable managing my TV stand now, way less frustrating than fighting with plastic ties that snap if you overtighten them.

Switched over last year too @mason.paige, never going back to zip ties after slicing my hand open on one.

Is it just me who ends up finding new and creative ways to cut myself on zip ties, even after using them for years? I swear I've got a couple of scars on my thumb from trying to twist them tight with pliers and then snipping the tail too close. Velcro straps sound like a lifesaver for that, especially when you're crammed behind a TV stand and can't see what you're doing.
