Saw the back of a TV at my sister's new place in Fresno and it looked like spaghetti
She has 9 cords just dangling loose behind her console, no clips, nothing, and one of them is a lamp cord wrapped around a power strip. I told her a $7 pack of velcro ties and a cheap under desk tray would fix most of it but she thinks it looks fine. Is it worth pushing her on this or do I just let it go?
Did you miss the part where a lamp cord is wrapped around a power strip? That is not just ugly, that is heat building up in a spot nobody looks at, and loose cords behind a console get stepped on and pulled until the plug works its way half out. Nine cords with no ties also means when she unplugs one thing she has to trace the whole mess by hand, which is annoying now and worse if something ever sparks. You do not have to nag her, but saying once that the lamp cord specifically worries you is fair, and if she still shrugs then yeah, drop it and let it be her call.
Let it go. If she has lived with it this long and says it looks fine, then she has already decided this is not a problem she cares about. Nobody is tripping over cords behind a console, and a lamp cord near a power strip is not going to burn the place down unless something is frayed or overloaded. You already gave her the cheap fix, so the ball is in her court. Pushing harder just makes you the guy who complains about other people's houses. Save your energy for stuff that actually matters, like if she asks you to help move that console someday.
