Question about the guy at Micro Center who talked me out of a 6 foot cable for my TV setup
Went to Micro Center in Fairfax about 2 weeks ago to grab a long HDMI cable so I could finally clean up the mess behind my TV, and the guy working there talked me out of the 6 foot one. He said a shorter cable plus a small extension would actually make my cable routing cleaner since I could hide the connector box right behind the mount. I figured he was just trying to upsell me but I went with it, and honestly the back of my TV looks way better now. I have the power strip and the connector tucked in one spot instead of a giant loop of cable dangling everywhere. Has anyone else had a store employee give them a tip that actually worked out?

Ran into the same thing at Best Buy last year when I was setting up my soundbar. The guy told me to skip the long optical cable and just move my soundbar closer to the TV instead, then use a shorter cable to the wall. I was ready to argue with him about it but I tried it and it looks so much cleaner now. The whole point is that shorter runs mean less clutter and you don't have all that extra cable coiled up gathering dust. It's funny how the people who work there sometimes know way more than we give them credit for. I've started actually listening to them instead of assuming they're just pushing whatever gets them a sale.
