PSA: That power strip daisy chain finally caught up with me

I was running 4 surge protectors off one outlet behind my TV stand for 3 months, until I smelled burnt plastic during a storm last Friday. Had an electrician come out and he said I was lucky my whole media setup didn't catch fire, so please check how many strips you've stacked. Has anyone else had a close call like this or am I the only one who ignored the warnings?
