Overheard a guy at Home Depot say zip ties are cheating, got me thinking
I was grabbing some anchors for a job in Portland last Tuesday and this older electrician was telling his apprentice that using zip ties for cable management is lazy. He said real pros use hook and loop straps or even just twist ties, anything that can be undone without cutting. It made me look at my own setup behind my living room TV, which is a nest of zip ties I've clipped and replaced like 5 times. Every time I add a new device, I have to cut everything and start over, plus I've nicked a speaker wire once with the cutters. His point was that cable management is never once and done, it's an ongoing thing. Maybe I should switch to velcro wraps, but I've got like 200 zip ties still in a drawer. Has anyone else made the switch and actually stuck with it?
