My son pointed out my cable nest behind the TV and I finally listened

My 16 year old was over helping me set up a new gaming console last weekend. He pulled the TV stand out and just stood there staring at the mess of cables behind it. He said "Dad, this looks like an explosion at a spaghetti factory." I laughed it off but then he showed me a few pictures on his phone of how his friend's setup looks. It got me thinking. I spent about 2 hours the next day untangling everything, using some basic Velcro strips from the hardware store, and even labeling a few cords with a marker. The whole thing cost me maybe 8 dollars and 2 hours of my Saturday. Now when I look behind there it actually feels satisfying instead of embarrassing. Has anyone else had a younger person point out how bad their cable situation is and make them finally deal with it?

Holding off on fixing it means you get the satisfaction of one final purge rather than dealing with it a little at a time. Nothing wrong with waiting until someone calls you out.

The "satisfaction of one final purge" line really hit me @the_dylan. I've been letting a pile of junk accumulate in my garage for months and yeah, there's something cathartic about just dumping it all at once instead of slowly chipping away. You get that big relief instead of tiny doses of annoyance, right?
