My dad's old cable box made me rethink how far we've come

Last week my dad dug out his old VCR and stereo stack from the basement for a garage sale. The back of that thing looked like a rat nest, probably 30 cables all tangled with electrical tape holding stuff together. He laughed and said we used to just shove everything behind and pray it worked. It hit me different cause now we got cable sleeves and color coded ties everywhere, but honestly my desk setup is just as messy behind the monitor. Makes me wonder if we actually got better at this or just moved the chaos to a different spot. Anyone else feel like labeling cables is a lost art?

Grab a label maker and a roll of velcro ties, then spend ten minutes tagging both ends of every cable you own. It takes forever but beats untangling a rat's nest at 2am when something dies.
