I finally had enough of the cable nest under my desk
Was working from home last Tuesday and my PC just shut off mid-meeting. Popped open the back panel and found a mess of cords behind my desk, one of them had come loose and was shorting against the metal case. Took me about 45 minutes to untangle everything and zip tie it to the desk legs. Now I've got a simple cable raceway along the back edge and it feels so clean. Anyone else have a cord just decide to tap out on its own like that?

Shorting against the metal case?" That's wild, you're lucky it didn't fry something.

Yeah, I did basically the same dumb thing with an old angle grinder. Touched the positive terminal to the casing by accident and the whole thing let out this loud buzz then just went dead. Never could get it to turn on again after that.

A buddy of mine tried that once, swore he saw sparks fly and his drill just stopped working. Idk if he fried the tool or just the battery but it never ran right again.
