Hotel AV closet in Nashville was a genuine hazard

I was setting up for a conference at a hotel near Broadway last Tuesday and opened their AV closet. It looked like a spaghetti monster died in there, power cables and HDMI cords all twisted together with no labels at all. One of the hotel techs actually said "we just add to the pile when something breaks" while pointing at a nest near the floor. I counted 14 different wall warts just hanging off a single power strip, half of them not even plugged in. Has anyone else walked into a commercial setup that made your home rig look spotless, and did you report it or just snap a photo for this group?

Yikes, that sounds like a total nightmare! My big question is what did the hotel manager say when you brought it up, or did you go straight to the fire marshal? Fourteen wall warts on one strip is a fire waiting to happen, and I would bet half of them were the cheap ones that get super hot. Did you get a look at whether that closet even had a working smoke detector, because that detail would tell me how fast I should run if I ever book there.
