Hot take: Should you hide cables behind drywall or just use raceways?

I was helping my buddy clean up his home office in Seattle last week and we got into a BIG debate. He wants to cut channels in the drywall to hide every cable behind the wall, but I think that's overkill for a rented space. I'm leaning towards stick-on raceways since they're removable and cost like $30 for a 10-foot kit. What do you all think - is it worth the extra effort to go in-wall or do you just stick to surface solutions?

Renting and cutting into drywall is a terrible idea unless you want to lose your deposit. Raceways are fine for cables nobody even looks at them.

Stick with raceways in a rental, it's like choosing peelable wallpaper over painting a room.
