Finally bought a label maker for my surge protector strips
For the longest time I just had cables plugged into power strips with zero organization. Every time I needed to unplug something, I had to trace the cord by hand behind my desk. Last month I got a simple Brother label maker for $25 and printed labels for each plug like 'Monitor', 'PC', 'Router'. Now I can swap stuff out in seconds without crawling around on the floor. Has anyone else found a cheap tool that made a big difference in cleaning up their setup?

$25 for a label maker and you're calling it a game changer. I've got two power strips under my desk with a sharpie taped to the side and it works just fine for me. Not saying it's bad, just feels like a lot of fuss for something that takes maybe 30 seconds to figure out.

See, this is exactly my setup too! I've got a dull sharpie hanging from a string near my desk and I just scribble on the tape whenever I swap stuff around. It's messy and sometimes I can't read my own handwriting but hey, it works! I tried a label maker once at a friend's house and spent ten minutes fighting with the stupid cartridge before giving up. $25 could buy me three packs of good sharpies and a roll of masking tape, easy.

Huh, but how often do you actually swap stuff around where the sharpie system holds up? That's the part I'm wondering about.
