Figured out why my PC kept rebooting itself, and it was the zip ties the whole time
For about 8 months I had this thing where my tower would just shut off mid-game, and I kept blaming the power supply, swapped it out twice, no change. Then last weekend I was lying on the floor behind the desk swapping a monitor cable and noticed how tight I'd cinched the bundle going into the back of the case. Like, plastic ties cutting into the main power cable tight. I cut them all loose and the cable actually had a crease in the insulation where it had been crushed against the case edge. Ran it loose for a week now, just a velcro strap holding it kinda near the leg, and zero shutdowns. Eight months of buying power supplies for a 60 cent zip tie problem. So now I'm redoing the whole run with velcro and leaving slack on the ones that bend. What's the rule you guys use for how tight is too tight on the power cable specifically?
