DAE think Velcro straps are actually WORSE than zip ties for cable management?

For YEARS I used zip ties on everything behind my desk and TV stand. Cut them off every time I needed to add or remove a cable. Then I saw everyone online swearing by Velcro straps, said they were reusable and better. Bought a pack of 50 for $12. After about 3 months I noticed my cables were a MESS again - the Velcro kept losing its grip, especially on thicker bundles. Had to re-wrap them every few weeks. Meanwhile my buddy's zip ties from 2 years ago are still holding solid. What tipped me off was when I had to pull a cable out for a new monitor and three Velcro straps just fell off. Anyone else feel like this trend is overhyped?

Respectfully, I gotta disagree about zip ties being better. lisa_jones21 mentioned hers gave up after two months, but I've had the same set of Velcro straps going on a year now and they still hold tight. The trick is not to crank them down like you're choking a chicken - just snug enough to keep the bundle together. Zip ties are a nightmare when you need to swap out a cable every few weeks. I cut one wrong once and nicked a USB cable jacket, which is a risk you don't have with Velcro. Maybe you got a bad batch or cheap ones, because not all Velcro is made the same.

Same thing happened to me, my Velcro gave up after two months of use!
