Tried putting a mirror in the coop to keep my hen company, she attacked it for 3 days straight
I read somewhere that a mirror helps lonely chickens feel less alone, so I hung one of those $6 dollar bathroom mirrors from the hardware store in my coop in Bakersfield last week. My barred rock, Debbie, spent 3 whole days fighting her own reflection, squawking and flapping and barely touching her feed, and I finally took it down when she chipped her beak on the frame. Has anyone else tried the mirror trick and had it actually calm a bird down, or did I just make a tiny feathered rival for her?
