Sprinkler timer on the coop door solved my predator panic

After losing two hens to a raccoon last spring, I installed a $35 hose timer hooked to a motion sprinkler aimed at the run entrance. It only took 3 nights before whatever was prowling stopped coming around. The real trick was setting it to run for 2 minutes at dusk and dawn, not 24/7, so my girls didn't get soaked when the timer went off. Anyone else use something unconventional like this to keep pests away?
