Picked a metal waterer over plastic after my third cracked in the freeze last winter
I got tired of replacing those cheap plastic waterers every time we had a hard freeze. Spent $45 on a 5-gallon galvanized one from the farm supply in Grand Rapids. No cracks, no leaks, and the hens figured out the nipples in about a day. Anyone else made the switch and notice less algae buildup too?

Oh totally! The nipples in metal ones keep way less gunk growing inside too!

All the gunk just slides right off the metal ones @tarab54, too bad I can't say the same for my brain cells lol.
