Morning feed run turned into a predator scare

I walked out at dawn last Tuesday to find a pile of feathers near the coop in Seattle. Turns out a raccoon had tried digging under the run, so I reinforced the whole base with hardware cloth the next afternoon. Has anyone else had raccoons test their coop foundation?

Wait, one raccoon trying to dig under a coop and you're already reinforcing the whole base? Feels like you're overreacting a bit, no? Raccoons do that stuff all the time, they usually just move on if they can't get in.
