Found out eggshell thickness varies by breed, not just feed

Was reading the extension office's poultry notes last night and saw that Marans lay eggs with shells about 0.05mm thicker than my Leghorns' eggs, even on the same feed. That explains why my Marans eggs feel so much sturdier in the hand. Anyone else notice a difference between their breeds?

Wait until you crack open a Marans egg next to a Leghorn one, the thickness difference is obvious the second you tap it. Did you weigh the shells after drying them out too, or just go off feel? I'm curious if that 0.05mm actually translates to a big jump in shell weight, or if it's barely noticeable on a scale.
