Diatomaceous earth for mites - I was a skeptic for 2 years until an outbreak last month changed my mind

I thought it was just snake oil until I dusted my whole coop after finding mites on three hens and saw zero bugs within 48 hours. Has anyone else had it work that fast or did I just get lucky?

Ha, yeah @jennifer_west your buddy's right about DE drying them out quick. It's not instant magic though, the dust has to stay dry to work, so if you got rain or humidity it takes longer.

Your line about seeing zero bugs in 48 hours is wild. A buddy of mine was dealing with a bad mite problem in his chicken coop last spring and he used DE on everything, he said it was like the bugs just vanished by the next morning. He figured the dry dust gave them no chance to hang on.
