A guy at the Monroe feed store told me to stop washing eggs, and my counter basket has been fine for 5 weeks
I was buying scratch in Monroe last month and the old guy at the register saw the egg cartons in my truck and asked if I rinsed them. I told him yes, cold water, right after collecting. He said that actually pushes bacteria through the shell and a dry paper towel is all you need. I tried it that week and my 9 hens' eggs have kept fine on the counter for 5 weeks now with no smell or sliminess. Anyone else skip the wash, or am I risking it with the bloom thing?
