A ranger I talked to last summer told me the same thing happens to people on that pass all the time, because the weather flips fast once you get up past the trees. He said most folks check the forecast for the valley and figure it holds up top, which it usually does not. Glad you made it down okay, that stretch has caught a lot of people off guard.
