Pro tip: my total pack weight dropped from 38 pounds to 26 after 4 trips in the White Mountains
I started measuring my base weight back in April and it sat at 38 pounds for a while. Then I did 4 overnights in the White Mountains and weighed everything again when I got home. Down to 26 pounds. That is 12 pounds gone and I did not buy much new gear. Most of it came from leaving stuff in the car and carrying less water between sources. I also stopped hauling a 3 pound camp chair and a second stove I never lit once. What is the one item you finally left home and never missed?
