Pacific Crest Trail vs Colorado Trail: did both and one was way more chill

I hiked the PCT from Mexico to Canada back in 2021 and the Colorado Trail last summer. PCT kicked my ass with the desert heat and snow passes. Colorado Trail felt like a vacation after that. Better water sources, easier re-supply, and half the time commitment. For someone with 4 or 5 weeks off work, CT is the move. Anyone else find the PCT overhyped compared to shorter routes?

CT vibe is way more laid back" - this is exactly it lmao. PCT feels like a job sometimes, CT is just a great time in the woods.

Honestly, I think the PCT gets way more hype because of the "thru-hike" label. Everyone acts like you gotta do the whole thing or it doesn't count. But the Colorado Trail is way more practical for normal people with jobs and lives. Plus the CT has way less fire closures and permit drama, I never had to stress about getting a spot. The PCT crowd can be really intense about mileage and gear, while the CT vibe is way more laid back. Ngl, I'd pick the CT every time if I wanted a chill adventure that still kicks your butt in a good way.
