Hot take: paper maps beat my phone on the Presidential Range last June
Last June I did a 3 day loop through the Presidential Range and my phone died on day one at 11am somewhere past Madison. I had a paper map and compass as backup and honestly it was faster to just glance at the map than keep pulling out my phone and unlocking it every 10 minutes. The real difference was I actually looked around more and noticed the trail blazes instead of staring at a blue dot. My buddy's GPS watch did fine but he kept stopping to wait for it to catch up. Anyone else find they move quicker without the screen, or am I just slow with tech?
