Had a thru-hiker tell me I was carrying too much water weight

I used to carry 4 liters of water on any desert stretch in Arizona because I was paranoid about running out. Then this guy on the Arizona Trail last April told me I was hauling an extra 8 pounds for no reason and pointed out where the reliable caches were on my map. I cut down to 2 liters after that and it made a huge difference in my pace and my knees. Has anyone else had a veteran hiker call them out on something they thought was necessary?

Yeah, that was me. Told him to ditch a liter and thank me later.

Ha! I once carried 5 liters up Mount Whitney because I panicked and my friend still hasn't let me live that down.
