Broke my favorite trekking pole on the Long Trail in Vermont last month

Was crossing a stream near Killington and planted my pole wrong. Snapped right at the second joint. Had to hike the next 20 miles using a stick I found on the trail. It worked but my wrist hurt for a week after. Anyone else ever had a piece of gear fail mid trip and have to jury rig something to keep going?

Bad depends on your definition. If watching a washing machine breakdance across the floor while spraying soapy water everywhere qualifies as bad, then no, it was a masterpiece of chaos. Just a regular Tuesday for my laundry room, really.
