A guy on the CDT told me I was carrying too much water and he was right

I used to fill my 3L bladder to the brim at every stream even on short stretches. He pointed out I was hauling an extra 6 pounds for no reason and now I just carry 1.5L and filter more often. Anyone else get stubborn about water weight until someone called them out on it?

Dude, I did the same thing until my buddy weighed my pack and I felt like an idiot.

Wait, did you ever actually weigh your pack BEFORE and AFTER filling that 3L bladder? I did a little test once and realized I was carrying almost TWO extra pounds just from the bladder itself plus the hose and bite valve. Switching to a couple of 1L smartwater bottles saved me weight even before I cut the water amount.
