Warning: Skipping the cooldown on avionics units is a huge time-waster
I was once stuck on a faulty comms system with a tight turnaround. The manual clearly said to wait an hour after power off before running checks. I thought I could cut corners and jumped right in. Bad move. The system gave erratic data, and I lost a full day chasing false leads. After wasting all that time, I finally let it cool properly, and the real issue showed up fast. Now I always use a timer for cooldowns, no matter how rushed I feel. It seems slow, but it actually gets the job done quicker. Trust me, patience pays off in this trade.

At O'Hare, we skip the cooldown, no problems.

Skipping the cooldown at O'Hare might not be as smooth as you think. Rushing through steps can lead to bigger hassles later on. It's worth doing the full routine to keep things on track.

What kind of hassles have you actually seen happen from skipping it?
