Took me 6 months to figure out my DMM was on the wrong setting

Honestly, I've been chasing a weird voltage drop on a Cessna 172's nav lights for weeks. Tore apart the wiring, checked grounds, swapped bulbs, the whole thing. Finally my lead walked over and just looked at my Fluke and said 'you know that's set to AC, right?' Ngl, I felt like an idiot. I've been troubleshooting AC readings on a DC system the whole time near the hangar in Tucson. Has anyone else had a basic mistake like this just completely wreck their troubleshooting flow?
