That 'certified refurbished' test set cost me a full day of labor

Bought a used spectrum analyzer from an online auction site last month, listed as certified. It arrived and powered on fine, but the internal calibration was way off. Spent a whole shift chasing a ghost signal on a comms box before I figured it out. The unit needed a full factory calibration, which cost another $300 and a day of shop downtime. Should have just rented a known-good unit for the job. Anyone have a go-to place for reliable used gear that doesn't pull this?

Got a "like new" monitor that flickered like a strobe light. Had to send it back twice before they got it right.

Like new" is such a gamble. That sounds more like "barely works" to me. Glad they finally fixed it after two tries.
