Shelled out $400 for a good multimeter and it paid off in one job

I used to buy those $30 clamp meters from Harbor Freight and they worked fine for basic stuff. But last month I was troubleshooting a weird intermittent fault on a Garmin G1000 display at a shop in Austin. My cheap meter was giving me wild resistance readings that made no sense. Finally dropped $400 on a Fluke 87V and found the bad ground pin in like 20 minutes. Anyone else find that spending real money on one tool changed how you work?

Bought a used Fluke 87V off eBay for $200 after my cheap meter gave me false readings on a Mercedes ABS sensor. Turned out the sensor was fine but my meter was reading 12v where there was actually 5v. Cost me a whole weekend chasing ghosts. Now I keep that Fluke in a padded case and treat it like a baby. Funny how one bad experience makes you stop being cheap about tools.
