Picked epoxy over heat shrink on a wet wing splice in Seattle

After 3 days of rain ruined my last shrink job on a 737 elevator actuator feed, I went with epoxy and a gel boot, and the moisture readings stayed dead zero all week, but now I'm wondering if that makes future access a nightmare for the next guy, has anyone else made that call and regretted it?

Does the gel boot at least peel off clean, or does the next guy have to dig it out with a knife? I used to swear by heat shrink for everything, but after seeing wet splices fail twice last fall, I'm starting to think you made the right call.
