Old timer at a repair station in Tucson made me eat crow about using a multimeter on a misfiring fuel pump
He just said 'check voltage drop under load' and walked away, and after I spent 30 minutes chasing phantom gremlins it saved me having to pull the whole panel, so has anyone else had a senior tech shut them down with one simple test like that?

84 Chevy pickup back in the day had a bad ground on the starter that three people missed but a retired mechanic spotted in two seconds flat. You and @the_vera are exactly right, it's ALWAYS the one test you didn't think to run.

Man, I feel that. It's always the old school guys with that one weird trick that makes you want to kick yourself for not thinking of it. Glad you didn't have to tear into that whole panel.
