Just logged my 100th pitot static check and the number hit me weird
Finished a pitot static check on a King Air this morning at the shop in Wichita and realized when I signed the log that it was number 100 for me. That number got me thinking about the first one I ever did back in 2021, where I chased a leak for 3 hours and finally found it at a loose static line fitting behind the panel. Back then I thought 100 checks would mean I actually knew what I was doing. Now I just know more ways things can go wrong. Anyone else keep count of their repeat jobs, and does the number ever feel different than you expected?
That line about thinking 100 checks would mean you actually knew what you were doing really hits. I used to believe the same thing, that at some point the job just turns into smooth sailing because you've seen it all. But the longer I do this stuff, the more I feel like experience just shows you the giant list of ways things can break, and you learn to respect how easy it is to miss one. So yeah, the number feels way different than I figured it would back when I was starting out. It is less about feeling like an expert and more about staying humble every single time.
