Got burned by a faulty LRU in a Cessna 172 at Paine Field last month

Was doing an avionics upgrade on a 172 at Paine Field and the brand new Garmin GMA 35c audio panel was DOA out of the box. Took me three hours of chasing wiring before I swapped it out and everything worked. Anyone else had a new unit fail right out of the box lately?

Buddy of mine at the Arlington shop popped in a brand new GMA 35c last spring, same deal, dead as a doornail from the factory. He swore it was his wiring until he swapped it for another one and it fired right up.

@holly_gonzalez61 I've seen that exact same thing happen twice at different shops. First time was a bad voltage regulator from the crate, second was a dead coil out of the box. Quality control these days is hit or miss. Always bench test a new part before you chase your wiring for hours.
