Dropped $180 on a Fluke 1587 and it sat in my bag for 8 months before it earned its keep
Everyone on here pushes the cheap multimeters and says a megger is overkill for line work, but last Tuesday I caught a chafed feeder on a King Air 350 that read fine on my $40 meter and lit up at 200 megohms on the insulation test. The cheap meter showed 0.3 ohms continuity like nothing was wrong. That one find paid for the tool twice over in the span of an hour. What test gear did you all drag your feet on before it finally bailed you out of a write up?
