Dropped $150 on a used oscilloscope that failed in a week

Found a Tektronix 2246 on Craigslist from a guy who said it worked fine, but after testing it on a King Air 200 pitot-static system the second day it just went dark... no trace, no nothing. Any of you guys had luck repairing these old units or is it just scrap now?

Had a 2246 do the same thing on me a few years back. Ended up being a dried out capacitor on the power supply board, swapped it out and it's been running fine ever since. These Tektronix units are tanks if you can get past the age-related issues. Check the caps near the flyback transformer first, those are almost always the culprit when they just shut down with no warning. If you're not comfortable with soldering, there's a guy on eBay who refurbs these for like 40 bucks plus shipping, cheaper than trashing it.

Pitot-static testing needs a 2232, the 2246 can't handle the load.
