PSA: verify your carrier's DOT number before they load your car, got burned last Tuesday

Broker in Dallas took my $400 deposit then handed my Accord to a carrier with a DOT number that didn't match anyone on file, and I found out when the driver called from a different area code asking for cash. Spent 6 hours on the phone with my bank before they reversed the charge. Does anyone have a go-to site for checking DOT and MC numbers before you hand over a card?
