Found out the average car hauler only fits 9 or 10 cars, not the 20 I pictured

I always thought those big open trailers held way more, but when I booked my move from Phoenix to Denver last month the dispatcher said most hold 9 or 10 and that's why they wait to fill a full load before rolling. That wait is the whole reason my pickup date moved twice, and the guy said filling a load can add 3 to 5 days depending on the route. Has anyone had better luck paying a bit more for a smaller carrier that doesn't wait around?
