PSA: Waiting 3 weeks for a broker to find a carrier cost me $340 more than just booking direct did
Had a Civic going from Phoenix to Portland and the broker kept saying he was working on it, then a guy on a truck forum hooked me up with a carrier in two days for $890 flat, which beat the $1,230 quote I finally got after all that waiting, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has just cut the middleman out completely.
My cousin went through something like this with a boat from Tampa to Chicago last summer. The broker sat on it for almost two weeks and kept saying he was "checking with his network," whatever that means. She finally posted in a Facebook group for boat owners and some retired guy in his 60s gave her a carrier name that same night. Price was $600 less than what the broker came back with. The whole thing made me wonder what these brokers even do all day besides forward emails.
