Found out my car got moved on 3 different trucks from Phoenix to Tampa and I never knew that was normal
I shipped my Civic from Phoenix to Tampa back in March and paid $850 for the whole thing. I always figured one truck just drove it the entire way, like a road trip for my car. Then I called the dispatcher after 5 days of no updates and he told me the car gets swapped at hubs, sometimes 3 or 4 times, and that is just how open carriers work. Has anyone else had a car go through multiple trucks and did you get any kind of heads up about it?
Man, I gotta disagree with you on this one. One truck doing the whole Phoenix to Tampa run would be a 2,000 mile trip and most drivers are not doing that solo, so swapping at hubs is honestly how the cheap open carrier deals work. That $850 price you paid is low for that distance, and the swaps are part of why it was low. The part I do agree with you on is the heads up thing. They should tell you upfront that your car is changing hands a few times so you are not sitting there for 5 days wondering where it went.
