Can we talk about how my quote for the same route went from $1,150 to $480 in 3 weeks?
I needed my Tacoma moved from Phoenix to Portland and the first quote I got back in early March was $1,150. I waited 3 weeks, called the same broker again, and got $480 for the exact same pickup and drop off. Nothing about my truck changed, the only thing that changed was the season, since carriers were heading north for the spring and needed to fill empty spots. So if you have any wiggle room on your dates, do not book the first number you hear. Has anyone else seen a spread that big just from timing it right?
Did the broker tell you why he quoted two different numbers in the first place? That part doesn't add up to me. If the loan terms and the house are the same, the price should be the same. Either he's padding one side or he's got some fee he didn't mention up front. Ask him straight out what changed between the two quotes and make him put it in writing.
